A Tribe Called Quest Pay Tribute To Phife Dawg On SNL As They Return With No. 1 Album

Twenty years and three months after A Tribe Called Quest last topped the Billboard 200 with Beats, Rhymes And Life, the legendary group returned with their final and chart-topping album We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service. The group, Q-Tip, Jarobi White and DJ Ali Shaheed Muhammad recently lost their bandmate MC Phife Dawg on March 2016 due to diabetes complication. Their first reunited on The Tonight Show on Nov. 2015 prior to their 25th anniversary. They once again back for the first time as the musical guests on November last year’s Dave Chappelle-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live. They performed two songs, “We The People…” and “The Space Program,” from their new (and final) album We Got It From Here…Thank You 4 Your Service, joined by Consequence and Busta Rhymes. A banner of the late Phife Dawg was lowered to the stage while a recording of his verse on “We The People…” played. Watch below.

Last season, The Weeknd suddenly appeared as “TheWeeknd Update” during the show’s Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live as he made a musical guest debut on Amy Schumer-host last season episode. In past weekend in a new season premiere of the show, he popped in once again on the news segment. Watch The 1975 Perform On SNL

At the end of the month, British pop-rock band The 1975 will release their new sophomore album I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it, a follow-up to the 2013’s self-titled. Ahead of that, they made their Saturday Night Live debut last week by performing two singles from the album. Watch them performed “The Sound” (which was introduced by host Larry David and special guest Bernie Sanders) and the INXS-esque track “Love Me” below.

British pop-rock band The 1975 will be the musical guests in this weekend’s Larry David-hosting episode of Saturday Night Live. In accordance with SNL tradition, the show has shared a couple of short promos. In the clip, SNL cast members Kate McKinnon and the members of 1975 give him a big group hug, and he isn’t very happy about it. Watch the promos below.

Mountain-man country star Chris Stapleton was the musical guest on past weekend’s Adam Driver-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live, where he performed “Parachute” and “Nobody To Blame” off of his debut album Traveller. The episode also featured a tribute to the late David Bowie, with former cast member Fred Armisen appearing to introduce footage of Bowie’s 1979 SNL performance of “The Man Who Sold The World.” Armisen spoke of how the performance impacted him personally. “When I was in high school and living in Long Island, I stayed up to see David Bowie play on Saturday Night Live. Watching him, for me, was a life-changing experience. David Bowie transformed whatever space he was in, whatever medium he was using, and that night for me, he transformed live television.” Watch below.

Last Saturday in the Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted episode of Saturday Night Live, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band were the musical guests on the night. They performed two songs on their recent The Ties That Bind: The River Collection box set, “Meet Me In The City” and “The Ties That Bind,” and for a special post-credits surprise, Paul McCartney, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and the entire SNL cast joined the band for a festive rendition of “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.” Watch all the performances below.

Watch Public Enemy Pay Tribute To Miles Davis On SNL

By the time the booker at Saturday Night Live got around to securing one of the best hip-hop outfits to call New York City home, Public Enemy had released their opus and one of the most critically lauded albums in rap, It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back. On the show 17th season premiere, Chuck D, Flavor Flav, and the crew made short work of the small stage with “Can’t Truss It” and “Bring The Noise,” passing lyrical volleys between each other and getting all up in the lens of the camera guys at every opportunity. It wasn’t all fun and rhymes, though: Miles Davis passed away the same day that Public Enemy played SNL, and they took a breath in between their intro (from Spike Lee and host-Michael Jordan) and their final song for a brief moment of silence for the jazz icon. Watch Adele Sing & “Hello” Accidental Save Thanksgiving On SNL

Adele just released this year massive album 25 last Friday, and celebrated it by performing on various show such a lengthy set at BBC studio, France’s NRJ Awards and 60 Minutes Australia. To continue promoting the album, last night, Adele returns to Saturday Night Live to serve as musical guest of the show hosted by Matthew McConaughey. Adele performed two songs from her new album, a great lead single “Hello” and second track “When We Were Young” as a second performance of the show. Before Adele first performance of “Hello,” the song suddenly appeared in SNL skit. In a A Thanksgiving Miracle skit featured a family having a thanksgiving dinner was close to going off the rails after issues like ISIS were raised remarkably quickly. Suddenly, a young girl at the table had the good instinct to play the song, turning an awkward family meal into an Adele-sing-a-long. Watch the skit below and both Adele’s performances below.

Adele just released her new album 25 and this weekend on Saturday Night Live episode, she’ll be performing as a musical guest for the second time in her career in Matthew McConaughey-hosting episode. Bruce Springsteen To Play SNL With Host Tina Fey & Amy Poehler

NBC recently announced the guests of their long running show Saturday Night Live Disember episodes of 41st season and Bruce Springsteen will serve as musical guest on its 9th episode of the season on Dec. 19 and will be co-hosted by actress Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Springsteen have been played on SNL for past 23 years since he made a debut on the show in 1992 (as seen in picture above.) It will be third times for Springsteen since their last appearing on the show on Matt Damon-hosted episode alongside E-Street Band in Oct. 2002.

Watch Disclosure Bring Lorde & Sam Smith To SNL

British electronic duo Disclosure served as the musical guests on last night’s Elizabeth Banks-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live. The duo brought along a pair of collaborator that appear on their new LP Caracal, Lorde and Sam Smith, to perform “Magnets” and “Omen,” their respective tracks off of the album. Through out Lorde performance also featured a brief tribute to Paris, as before Disclosure delved into “Magnets,” the stage was lit up in the “bleu, blanc et rouge” of the French flag. Earlier in the episode, Saturday Night Live stood in solidarity with those in Paris by replacing the cold open with a solemn tribute to “the city of light.” Watch all in the videos below.

Watch Sia Performance & Donald Trump Get Interrupt While Introduce Sia On SNL

Sia new album’s This Is Acting comes out early next year and recently she did already dropped two new single of the album. Last night episode of Donald Trump hosted’s Saturday Night Live, she returns for the second time as a musical guest to perform that two new single — “Alive” (a song was originally intended for Adele’s forthcoming album 25) and “Bird Set Free.” During Trump introduces Sia’s second performance, SNL cast Kenan Thompson comes out dressed as Toots Hibbert, the lead singer of Toots and the Maytals — the musical guest the last time Trump hosted back in 2004 — and tries to be Trump’s friend. “Over-eager Rastafarian” is a pitch-perfect Thompson character, and his energy and the oddness of having a sketch placed right before a musical performance keep the thing moving along swimmingly. This week on NBC’s Saturday Night Live will air their 4th episode of this season and Sia set to perform as a musical guest alongside host Donald Trump (whose in the running for President in 2016’s presidential election.) Before she was famous with the chart topping album 21 and Grammy winning awards, there was Adele who made a Saturday Night Live debut as a musical guest back in 2008, in celebrating the released her debut album 19. Miley Cyrus pulled double-duty on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live last night, both hosting and performing as the episode’s musical guest. The singer brought out The Flaming Lips for a live rendition of “Karen Don’t Be Sad” from their recent collaborative album, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton introduced her before she took the stage and backed up by an animal-suited The Flaming Lips.
