Greg Dulli – “Modern Love” (David Bowie Cover)

The Afghan Whigs frontman Greg Dulli is getting ready to embark on a solo tour of Europe and North America, playing songs from across his career in smaller venues. The recent passing of David Bowie moved him to shared a wizened, mostly-acoustic take on “Modern Love,” Bowie’s classic 1983 new-wave soul single. Dulli’s take on the song is scorched and intense, with a few strings there to lift things up on the chorus. Use the widget below to stream or download it.

New Order – “Tutti Frutti (Tom Rowlands Remix)”

“Tutti Frutti,” a track from New Order recent album’s Music Complete remixed by British synthpoppers Hot Chip in October. Recently the Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands has his own remix version of the track. Listen below and the track also available for free download.

Radiohead – “Spectre”

Radiohead were used to record the theme for the new James Bond movie Spectre, but it didn’t end up happening, and it finally goes to Sam Smith’s “Writing’s On The Wall” to be main theme for the film. But it turns out that Radiohead actually did write a song for the film, “Spectre,” and they’ve decided to share it with as a special Christmas gift. And the track also available for free download. Frontman Thom Yorke also wrote a note about the track. Check it out below.

Download Art Of Anarchy Debut Album With Scott Weiland For Free

Back in June, rock supergroup Art Of Anarchy released their first self-titled album featuring former Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland on vocal. Now, they are giving away the album for free as a tribute to Weiland who died earlier this month. Weiland contributed vocals to the project, but later distanced himself from the band and insisted he was not a full-time member of the group. The remaining members including former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal and Disturbed bassist John Moyer, have now announced the record they worked on with Weiland is being released as a free download to honour his memory. The band members explain in a statement, “In memory of Scott Weiland, we would like to offer the Art Of Anarchy record digitally for free to the world during this holiday season. We hope everyone enjoys listening as much as we enjoyed creating it.” Download the album here.

Foo Fighters Release New EP Saint Cecilia For Free

And now, the countdown is over, and the ticking solved when the band have just released a 5 songs on new EP called Saint Cecilia, recorded live in Austin’s Hotel Saint Cecilia while the band were in town to headline Austin City Limits. Ben Kweller, Gary Clark Jr., and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band are all featured on the EP. Ian MacKaye (Fugazi, Minor Threat, Embrace) and Steve Albini (Big Black, Shellac, Rapeman) have known each other for years, since their bands were circulating the ’80s hardcore scene. The Kreative Kontrol podcast got the two underground icons on the phone to share some memories from those days, and it’s deeply fascinating. The conversation lasts well over an hour in two parts, and it sounds like a fantastic way to spend the day listening. All 8-tracks are streaming in full a week ahead of the record’s release date. On September 18th, Sacred Bones will put out Negative Feedback Resistor in physical formats, but for now you can download the MP3s free of charge on Adult Swim’s website.

Deer Tick recently transform themselves once again into their alter-ego Deervana, their Nirvana cover project, and playing a full set of Nirvana’ In Utero to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the album release at Williamsburg’s Brooklyn Bowl. The band has previously performed Nirvana cover sets at SXSW, Bonnaroo, and Northside Festival, but this was their first time doing an album front-to-back.
