Last saturday, the 2015 Global Citizen Festival took place at Central Park, New York, featured sets from Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Beyoncé and Pearl Jam. With guest appearances from Ariana Grande, Common, Tori Kelly and Sunidhi Chauhan also performed. Coldplay debuted a new song during their set. It’s an uplifting ballad called “Amazing Day,” and Chris Martin introduced it by saying “This is about the wonderful things on earth.” Ariana Grande also joined Coldplay onstage to perform her song “Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart.” Later on Pearl Jam set, sitting without his band on acoustic guitar, Eddie Vedder was joined on Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” by Beyoncé, who performed and introduced First Lady Michelle Obama earlier in the night. A clip from late civil rights leader Nelson Mandela’s anti-poverty speech in London in 2005 played over them mid-song.
