Foo Fighters Release New EP Saint Cecilia For Free

Although the rumors having guessing early on Foo Fighters’ mysterious countdown clock on their website since they launched it last October. And now, the countdown is over, and the ticking solved when the band have just released a 5 songs on new EP called Saint Cecilia, recorded live in Austin’s Hotel Saint Cecilia while the band were in town to headline Austin City Limits. Ben Kweller, Gary Clark Jr., and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band are all featured on the EP. The mystery of Foo Fighters countdown clock on their website maybe have been solved when a Washington D.C. alternative rock radio station dj’s Mike Jones figured out that the band plans releasing new EP on Record Store Day Black Friday later this month. In his investigation also indicated the band recorded 5 new songs in Hotel St. Cecilia, Austin. Ahead of the clock counting down to this Saturday night, a snippet of band new song surfaced online. In a one-minute clip featured a same riff sound that the band teased it during their European tour couple of months ago. Listen a song snippet in a clip below.

Mystery Behind Foo Fighters’ Countdown Clock Revealed

Last week, Foo Fighters launched a mysterious clock on their website, counting down to 11/22/15, right around midnight and that’s a Saturday night. Washington D.C. alternative rock radio station dj’s Mike Jones recently did some detective work on Foo Fighters’ mysterious Lobby countdown clock website during his honeymoon vacation in Austin, Texas. His research indicates that the band plan on releasing the 5 new songs the band recorded in Austin on Record Store Day Black Friday. Jones wrote that the framing of Foo Fighters’ logo on the website is identical to Hotel St. Cecilia’s logo in Austin. The photos the band have been releasing were also taken outside the hotel, as seen below in Jones’ photo.

Foo Fighters Foo Fighters Turns 20

Essentially a collection of solo home recordings by Dave Grohl, Foo Fighters' eponymous debut is a modest triumph. Driven by big pop melodies and distorted guitars, Foo Fighters do strongly recall Nirvana, only with a decidedly lighter approach. If Kurt Cobain's writing occasionally recalled John Lennon, Dave Grohl's songs are reminiscent of Paul McCartney -- they're driven by large, instantly memorable melodies, whether it's the joyous outburst of "This Is a Call" or the gentle pop of "Big Me." That doesn't mean Grohl shies away from noise; toward the end of the record, he piles on several thrashers that make more sense as pure aggressive sound than as songs. Since he recorded the album by himself, they aren't as powerful as most band's primal sonic workouts, but the results are damn impressive for a solo musician. Nevertheless, they aren't as strong as his fully formed pop songs, and that's where the true heart of the album lies. Foo Fighters has a handful of punk-pop gems that show, given the right musicians and songwriters, the genre had not entirely become a cliché by the middle of the '90s.

Hey everyone…

Dave here. Just wanted to write and thank you all again from the bottom of my heart for another incredible year. (Our 18th, to be exact!) We truly never could have done any of this without you…

Never in my wildest dreams did I think Foo Fighters would make it this far. I never thought we COULD make it this far, to be honest. There were times when I didn’t think the band would survive. There were times when I wanted to give up. But… I can’t give up this band. And I never will. Because it’s not just a band to me. It’s my life. It’s my family. It’s my world.

Yes… I was serious. I’m not sure when the Foo Fighters are going to play again. It feels strange to say that, but it’s a good thing for all of us to go away for a while. It’s one of the reasons we’re still here. Make sense? I never want to NOT be in this band. So, sometimes it’s good to just… put it back in the garage for a while…

But, no gold watches or vacations just yet… I’ll be focusing all of my energy on finishing up my Sound City documentary film and album for worldwide release in the very near future. A year in the making, it could be the biggest, most important project I’ve ever worked on. Get ready… it’s coming.
